Sydney Ports redevelopment, Sydney, Nova Scotia.
GMA initially prepared a design concept and business plan for the re-development of the Port of Sydney, Nova Scotia to better meet the needs of the growing cruise ship and tourist industry. Subsequently GMA were engaged to complete the detailed design and project management of the $15 million facility. Phase One has been completed and Phase Two, which completes the building renovations, is underway.

The project consists of a renovated and expanded port building with glass atrium and interior mezzanine. Additional spaces include craft workshops, 2,000 person stage performance area and trade/convention centre floor, a smaller stage for an audience of 300, a retail area, a visitor information centre, food and beverage facilities, a lighthouse audio-visual theatre, and a Cape Breton Island Interpretation Centre.

GMA also developed a new corporate identity for the port to reflect its new role in tourism, and produced a signage program to move cruise ship passengers effectively into the shopping district of Sydney.
